A New Season.
September feels like a threshold. A note on home, change, and what we choose to carry into the season ahead.
“There is nothing wrong in change, if it is in the right direction.”
Winston S. Churchill
Welcome to At Home.
Summer loosens its hold. School begins again. The air changes. And almost without noticing, we begin preparing for what comes next.
This September feels especially meaningful to me. I am opening the doors to a new professional home, one place where the different parts of my work can finally live together: real estate, interiors, and advisory.
For years, I saw those as separate interests. I no longer do. They are all connected by the same question: how do we move from where we are to what comes next?
Sometimes that question is practical: buying, selling, relocating, preparing a property, creating a room. Sometimes it is more personal: what are we ready to change, keep, release, or begin?
At Home with Cecilia is where I will explore both. Each month, I will share a little of what I am seeing in real estate, what I am noticing in homes and design, and one question worth carrying with us for a while.
No urgency. No need to optimize. Just a small invitation to notice where we are.
What I’m watching.
A few things I am watching as we head into fall: buyer confidence in Manhattan, the continued pressure of limited inventory across the Connecticut Gold Coast, and how taxes, financing and timing are shaping decisions on both sides of the city line.
Manhattan condos and co-ops are telling different stories this quarter, and a new pied-a-terre tax arrived on 1 July that changes the maths above one million dollars. On the Gold Coast, supply is down double digits in all four towns and prices are climbing because of it.

Three homes, one idea:
help the room speak.
August brought three recent stagings across the Upper West Side and West Village.
For me, staging is not about filling a room. It is about editing it until the space feels clear, balanced, and easy to imagine living in.
See what was staged →On change.
September always seems to arrive carrying change with it. The light shifts. The days begin to shorten. Summer slowly gives way to something quieter.
This year, I find myself thinking about change differently. I am 45 now. Midlife. There is something strangely clarifying about saying that out loud.
What else might I become?

September naturally brings a little reset. The light changes, mornings cool, and we begin moving inward again.
There is something very Virgo about this time of year: clearing, editing, organizing, and making room for what comes next. Not a dramatic overhaul. Just small acts of care.
Clear one surface. Open a window. Light a candle. Let go of something that no longer belongs.
Sometimes a home feels different simply because we have begun paying attention to it again.
Home is also an inner place.
How is the home within you being tended? What have you been carrying through the summer? What feels complete? What would you like to make a little more room for this fall?
Under one roof.
Real estate, staging and advisory now live together in one place. Different forms of guidance, connected by one idea: transition.
